The Calcutta High Court has made the ED a party in an assets PIL against 19 TMC leaders.

Kolkata Supreme Court has made ED a party in a PIL against TMC leaders and ministers in Bengal.

A divisional bench of the Calcutta High Court on Monday ordered the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to be a party in a PIL over the assets and property details of 19 top Trinamool congressional leaders and ministers. The list includes seven current ministers in West Bengal.

The PIL against top TMC leaders was tabled by Biplob Chowdhury, who questioned the spectacular wealth gains of 19 Trinamool MPs, MPs and state government ministers.

The list includes the names of TMC leaders/ministers such as Firhad Hakim, Bratya Basu, Jyotipriya Mallik, Javed Khan, Seuli Saha, Sovan Chatterjee, Iqbal Ahmed, Arjun Singh, Gautam Deb.

Also the names of West Bengali speaker Biman Banerjee and former finance minister Amit Mitra, along with two deceased leaders, Subrata Mukherjee and Sadhan Pande.

The development comes at a time when Partha Chatterjee, former heavyweight Congress leader and Trinamool minister, and his close aide, Arpita Mukherjee, are in judicial custody over their alleged links to the multi-billion dollar School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment scam.

The next hearing is in September.
