Arlington, Texas– A one-of-a-kind wrestling double header featuring the best teams from both NCAA and international competition is scheduled for Globe Life Field on Saturday, February 12, 2022.

Details of Fight in the ball park which will include double games between Oklahoma State University and the University of Iowa and senior national teams from the United States and Iran, REV Entertainment announced today that it will host and host the event.

The Oklahoma State-Iowa College Meeting and the USA-Iran Exhibition Meeting will take place simultaneously from 6:30 p.m. on February 12, with the two competitions alternating on two different mats throughout the event. This is the first time a high-level international meeting and NCAA meeting have been held in this format.

Oklahoma State v Iowa is one of the most decorated rivalries in college sports. The 34 NCAA Cowboys Team Championships represent the NCAA record for most titles in a sport for each school and the Hawkeyes’ 24 draws for the third. This will be 55NS Meet in between these storied NCAA wrestling programs, with the state of Oklahoma holding a 29-23-2 advantage.

In its history, OSU has won 55 team conference titles as well as 143 NCAA individual champions and 481 All-Americans, both of which are number 1 nationally by a wide margin. Oklahoma State wrestlers have also made 41 Olympic appearances and won 11 gold medals and a total of 16 medals and 19 other medals at the World Championships. OSU finished third in the 2021 NCAA championships. The cowboys are coached by former Olympic gold medalist and six-time world champion John Smith, who has won five NCAA championships since being appointed head coach in 1991.

Iowa won the 2021 NCAA championship while earning its 37thNS Big Ten title. Iowa’s 55 NCAA champions have won a total of 85 NCAA singles titles, crowning seven three-time and 16 two-time champions. The Hawkeyes’ 117 Big Ten champions have teamed up for 207 conference titles. There were seven four-time, 19 three-time, and 31 two-time Big Ten champions from Iowa. Iowa’s 161 All-Americans have achieved All-America status 352 times, including 22 quadruple, 40 triple and 41 double guests of honor. Forty Iowa wrestlers have won a total of eleven Olympic and World Championship gold medals. The Hawkeyes are led by Tom Brands, NWCA Coach of the Year 2021, who won his fourth NCAA championship last spring and is in his 16th year as head coach.

USA Wrestling is the national umbrella organization for wrestling in the United States and is a member of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the international wrestling association United World Wrestling. USA Wrestling manages competition, training, and other programs for athletes of all ages, from boys and girls in youth programs to World Championships and Olympic Games.

The United States is a world power in international wrestling, including second place in both men’s and women’s freestyle wrestling in the 2021 World Seniors Championships. USA Wrestling won nine medals in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, led by three individual Olympic champions.

Iran is one of the traditional powerhouses in men’s freestyle wrestling with numerous world and Olympic champions in this sport. The friendly rivalry between the US and Iran goes back decades. In 1998, an international freestyle team from USA Wrestling became the first US sports team to compete in Iran since the Iranian Revolution, which lasted almost two decades. The last time Iran competed in the US was at the World Cup in Los Angeles in 2016.

Since then, the USA and Iran have competed regularly in both nations. In 2003, Iran came to the United States along with Russia to compete in the Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Wrestling matches between the United States and Iran traditionally attract large crowds in both nations.

Fight in the ball park will be the first event at Globe Life Field to host an international competition. The two wrestling mats are located between the pitcher’s mound and second base areas and are placed on raised platforms to improve the lines of sight from the seat pan. Floor seating will be added, with Globe Life Field capacity expected to be at least 27,000 for the Games.

Since opening in March 2020, Globe Life Field has been home to the Texas Rangers and has hosted numerous sporting and entertainment events including Major League Baseball NLDS, NLCS and World Series and Wrangler © National Finals Rodeo in 2020 and the State Farm College Baseball Showdown. Over 30 college and high school baseball games, about 50 college and high school degrees, the Hella Mega Tour with Green Day, Fallout Boy and Weezer, and Chris Stapleton in Concert in 2021.
