New York State Police are investigating a head-on collision that took five people to hospitals with serious injuries.
Soldiers were called with the report of an accident on Murphy Road near Ketchum Road in the town of Conklin at 9:19 am on January 21st.
According to a state police press release, a 2008 Dodge Charger and a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado were involved in the collision.
According to the authorities, four occupants and the driver of the Charger were seriously injured.
The driver and two passengers were taken to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City, while two other passengers were flown in a LifeNet ambulance to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment.
The driver of the Silverado was examined by rescue workers at the scene. State police say the person was not taken to a hospital.
Authorities have not provided any information about the condition or the names of the occupants of the Dodge Charger. Officials did not provide any information about the cause of the accident.
Conditions on Friday morning were mostly clear and dry across the region.
The state police press release said members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Collision Reconstruction Unit responded at the scene. The Soldiers were assisted by the Broome County Sheriff’s Department, the Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad, the Superior Ambulance, Conklin Fire, and the Broome County EMS Coordinator.
The crash is still under investigation.
