Storerand’s Sustainable Investment Manager, Matthew Smith, has left the Nordic company after 12 years with the group.

The ESG specialist takes on a new challenge and becomes part of the Pure Sustainability team at KMPG Norway. He becomes director of sustainable finance.

A Storebrand spokesperson confirmed that the company is currently looking for Smith’s successor.

Smith joined Storebrand in 2008 as a Senior ESG Analyst and became Head of Sustainable Investments for the company in 2015. Before joining Asset Manager, he was a project manager at Green in Practice and also worked as an English teacher.

KPMG acquired Pure Consulting in early 2020 and currently offers a range of sustainability services, from analysis and strategy to implementation and reporting.

KPMG Pure Consulting works across industries and companies to implement the UN’s sustainability goals.

The aim of the unit is to increase the understanding and knowledge of the framework and to use the goals as a basis for strategy development and innovation.

The consultancy also advises on ESG in the areas of asset management and sustainable finance and helps financial institutions address new reporting requirements, including compliance with the EU’s new sustainable finance taxonomy.
