Our founders did not favor religious extremism – Daily Freeman

Dear editor:

Bible hammers make our society hell. These thugs are never satisfied with just having strong religious beliefs, but want to bring their sacred instructions into all of our lives. They are against abortion, but instead of not getting one themselves, they want to deny every woman the right to vote. The same goes for LGBTQ rights. Thumpers are never satisfied with making guidelines for their own lives.

Despite the fact that a large majority of Americans support a woman’s right to abortion, they are obsessed with criminalizing it. Gay and transgender rights also have strong public support, but that doesn’t mind far-right evangelical thugs and their hopelessly corrupt mega-church leaders.

Another gang of biblical extremists has taken over our foreign policy. Old Testament scholars demand that Israel have a right to land in Palestine because God said it was theirs thousands of years ago. And the slaughter of Palestinians fits in perfectly. Israel’s genocidal attacks in Gaza come directly from God’s bellicose counsel to his chosen people: “Go attack the Amalekites. Destroy them and all their possessions. Have no pity. Kills their men, women, children, and even their babies. Slaughter their cattle, sheep, camels, and donkeys. ”- Samuel 15: 3.

The founders of our nation were terminally ill with religious orthodoxy when they wrote the constitution. It should protect us from zealots who boss everyone around with their interpretation of God’s will. We must reorganize to defeat these narrow-minded, vile holy fanatics.
