A Republican MP from Virginia has come under fire for saying that all of America’s problems stem from same-sex marriages.
Rep. Bob Good’s absurd testimony came during his opposition to a House bill to prevent domestic violence.
According to Good, gay marriage is the cause of every social disease in America.
See his comments below.
At the time, Good spoke out against the proposed Law to Prevent Family Violence and Improve Services, a law that would re-authorize and expand funding for domestic violence prevention and assistance to survivors.
However, Good does not consider this legislation necessary because it does not address the root cause of the problem – gay marriage. As he put it:
“Almost everything that plagues our society can be traced back to our failure to obey God’s laws on morality and His rules for and definition of marriage and the family.”
“[Democrats have] Chosen to attack the very foundation of our country, the moral principles and the traditional family that hold our families and communities together. “
Good offered no explanation of who or what was responsible for all of the domestic violence and other issues in America that arose before 2015, when same-sex marriage was legalized.
Of course, Good also made sure to emphasize on transgender people in his screed that the provisions of the bill on gender identity amount to religious discrimination against Christians who believe in trans people
Unfortunately, this type of rhetoric is taken for granted by Good, who came to prominence during his 2020 primary election for his opposition to his Republican opponent, incumbent Denver Riggleman, who officiated a same-sex marriage.
Good is also a staunch supporter of former Republican President Donald Trump, believes the pandemic is a joke, has repeatedly encouraged people not to wear masks, and in the hours after the attempted coup on the Capitol on the 6th.
Goods’ words met widespread criticism on Twitter.
Fortunately, nine of Goods’ Republicans joined with House Democrats to pass the Law to Prevent Family Violence and Improve Services, despite the allegedly destructive impact of same-sex marriages on American society, according to Good.
