In a Saturday night interview with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Corporation (IRIB), a state-controlled Iranian media company that has a monopoly on domestic radio and television services in Iran, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said Iran had intentions for a strategic military presence in Gambia .

“Our presence in the Atlantic is a response to American claims that Iran could never sail in the ocean,” replied Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi in his interview with IRIB on Saturday evening.

Boasting of Iran’s new naval capabilities, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said: “Given that African countries of the Atlantic do not have navies and therefore do not pose a threat to the US, and on the other hand European countries do not pose a threat to the US either, the presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran – that the fight against oppression is one of its principles – in the Atlantic worries the Americans. ”
Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi announced that his forces would receive new domestic equipment over the next few months, including a warship, a destroyer, a missile launch hovercraft and an ocean-going reconnaissance ship.
