The Iranian Vice President for Economic Affairs has called for relations with Cuba to be strengthened in order to counteract the illegal pressure campaign and enemy sanctions against both nations.
Mohsen Rezaei did so on Tuesday at a meeting with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel in Managua, capital of Nicaragua, where he attended the inauguration ceremony of President Daniel Ortega.
Regarding the history of friendship between Tehran and Havana, Rezaei stressed the importance of efforts to develop and deepen bilateral relations in various sectors, particularly science, technology and trade.
He also referred to the good and effective cooperation between the two countries in the field of new technologies as well as the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and the production of a common anti-COVID vaccine.
“By expanding cooperation, we must neutralize the sanctions and pressures of the enemies and render their conspiracies against resilient nations ineffective. Of course this has been the case so far, ”he added.
Rezaei also expressed Iran’s willingness to expand its full cooperation with Cuba, saying: “We can form a joint union to facilitate and promote Iranian trade with Latin American countries, especially Cuba.”
“The Islamic Republic pays special respect to the Cuban government and nation and their resistance to the excessive demands of the oppressors. It is also committed and determined to strengthen relations and friendship with the country.”
For his part, the Cuban President praised the ideals of the Islamic Revolution and the resistance of the Iranian government and the Iranian people to the excessive demands of the oppressive powers, especially the USA.
“The Cuban government and people attach particular importance to rich culture and the beloved nation of Iran,” he noted.
Stressing the need to strengthen cooperation between Iran and Cuba in all fields, especially in trade, science and technology, he said, “Working together to fight coronavirus disease and develop a vaccine is a great achievement in the struggle against sanctions and the conspiracy of the common enemy of the two nations. “
Diaz-Canel also supported Iran’s right to peaceful uses of nuclear energy and stressed efforts to establish banking and trade relations between Tehran and Havana.
